In order to strengthen cybersecurity in Latvia and implement the requirements of the revised European Union Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems, the National Cybersecurity Law entered into force on September 1, 2024. A new institution has also begun its work – the National Cybersecurity Center, which acts as a single point of contact for cybersecurity issues and oversees the implementation of national cybersecurity requirements.
With the entry into force of the law, several significant changes have been introduced and the range of public and private sector organizations subject to minimum cybersecurity requirements has been expanded.
