The weather in Latvia will warm up rapidly next week, but chilly weather and snow are still expected this week, according to forecasts by weatherman Toms Bricis.
On week nights, Latvia will experience a slight frost, with temperatures dropping to -6 to 0 degrees Celsius, while on the coast temperatures will stay a bit above freezing.
Light precipitation is expected in parts of Latvia every day during the working week, more on Wednesday, when blizzards are expected in many places, and a few centimetres of snow will again form in Vidzeme and Latgale.
Over the weekend, gusty northerly winds will be replaced by southerly winds, and temperatures will rise. On Saturday, it will be close to 15 C in the western and central parts of the country.
Warm temperatures will prevail next week, with afternoon highs of 18-23 degrees and some days reaching 25 degrees. The nights will also be mostly sunny and dry.
