France plans to strengthen the military contingent on the eastern flank of NATO after the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis. More about this was told by the Minister of Defense of the country Sebastian Lecornu.
According to the head of the military department, Paris will send additional Rafale fighters to Lithuania, and will send more troops to Estonia. Lecornu noted that such plans are planned to be implemented by the end of October-beginning of November.
“The President of the Republic has decided to strengthen our defensive position in the east of Europe by sending a brigade of armored personnel carriers and tanks to Romania,” Lecornu said during a meeting of the French Senate Commission on Foreign Affairs, Defense and the Armed Forces.
Earlier, the French Foreign Ministry commented on Turkey’s idea to hold talks on Ukraine in Istanbul. French diplomacy believes that Kyiv should determine the terms of such consultations.
