According to the data of the Central Statistical Bureau published on 15 April, in February 2025 the number of non-resident and resident visitors in Latvian accommodation establishments comprised 145.4 thousand, which is 11.4 % more than in February 2024.
Visitors spent 254.4 thousand nights at the establishments, which is 12 % more than in February 2024.
In February 2025, out of all visitors 58.1 % or 84.4 thousand were non-resident visitors, which is 20.7 % more than in February last year. The number of nights spent by non-residents, compared to February 2024, has grown by 23.4 % and comprised 155.6 thousand. Non-residents on average spent 1.8 nights at the tourist accommodation establishments (also 1.8 nights in February last year).
The majority of non-resident visitors came from Lithuania (14.9 thousand), Estonia (11.4 thousand), United Kingdom (8.4 thousand), Germany (5.2 thousand), Finland (4.4 thousand), Poland (3.6 thousand), Sweden (3.3 thousand), Ukraine (2.7 thousand), USA (2.5 thousand) and Spain (2.5 thousand).
Most non-resident visitors were hosted in Rīga – 79.4 %, Jūrmala – 5.5 %, Mārupe municipality – 5.1 % and Liepāja – 2.2 %.
In February 2025 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 61 thousand residents – their number remained at the level of February last year (rise of 0.7 %). The number of nights spent by them comprised 98.7 thousand, which is a drop of 2.2 %, compared to the respective month last year. Residents on average spent 1.6 nights at the tourist accommodation establishments (1.7 nights in February last year).
Mostly residents stayed in Riga (33.4 %), Jūrmala (14.1 %), Liepāja (6.9 %), Cēsis municipality (4.3 %), Daugavpils (4.1 %), Valmiera municipality (3.4 %) and Sigulda municipality (2.9 %).
Average room occupancy rate of hotels and similar accommodation in Latvia was 33.4 % in February (a rise of 3.9 percentage points, compared to February 2024), 40.2 % – in Riga (an increase of 5 percentage points, compared to February of the previous year).
