In the first quarter of this year, the train passenger carrier Vivi sold 4.76 million tickets, which is almost 750,000 or 18.7% more than in the same period last year, Vivi said in a release on 15 April.

The biggest increase in the number of passengers carried is in the direction of Skulte. In the first quarter, more than 549,000 tickets were sold on the Skulte line, an increase of 37% compared to the first quarter of 2024.

The highest number of passengers travelled in the direction of Tukums, with almost 1.64 million tickets sold in the first three months of 2025. The Jelgava direction is the second most demanded for train traffic. More than 800,000 tickets were sold in the first months.

On routes to Aizkraukle, 1.3 million tickets were sold in the first quarter, a 16% increase compared to the same period a year ago. On the Daugavpils route, more than 166,000 tickets were sold in the first months of this year, 4% more than in the same period last year.

More than 228,000 tickets have been sold on the Sigulda line. The increase compared to the first three months of last year is 15%.

To make train travel more convenient and accessible, an interval timetable is gradually being introduced on all electrified lines – this means that trains run at regular intervals (e.g. every 15 or 30 minutes), making it easier for passengers to plan their journeys and navigate the timetable.
