Nongovernmental organizations hope the European Court of Justice’s Tuesday ruling will pave the way for homosexuals from third countries, married to EU citizens, to get residency in Lithuania. The ECJ ruled on Tuesday that gay couples have the right to residency in any EU member state even if it does not recognize gay marriages. European judges have ruled that Lithuania and Romania violated the rights of two al-Qaeda terror suspects by helping the CIA to mistreat them. The US captured Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri after the September 2001 attacks in the US and they are now at the Guantanamo Bay prison.
