Saturday brings 64 new Covid-19 cases

On Saturday, July 31, Latvia reported 64 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 138,863. 

Of 11,303 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 0.6% were positive.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose from 37.6 Friday to 38.9 Saturday.

No Covid-related deaths were confirmed, so the death toll since the start of the pandemic remains 2,556.

The number of patients being treated for coronavirus symptoms in Latvia’s hospitalsdropped from 46 on Friday to 42 on Saturday, according to figures from the National Health Service. Of that number, 6 patients are classed as having serious symptoms.

On July 30 2,947 people received a first vaccine dose and 2,217 received a second dose. In all 681,112 people have now completed a course of vaccination in Latvia.

Meanwhile in Estonia       249 new Covid cases   were registered Saturday and in Lithuania  397 new cases   were recorded.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website    https://covid19sertifikats.lv/  .

All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website  covidpass.lv  .
