Producer prices rose 2.2 % in August

Data published by the Central Statistical Bureau September 21 show that, compared to July, in August 2021 the level of producer prices in Latvian industry increased by 2.2 %.

The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market increased by 2.5 %, and prices of exported products – by 1.9 %. Producer prices of products exported to euro area countries rose by 2.0 %, prices of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 1.8 %.

Manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork (except furniture); electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply; manufacture of fabricated metal products (except machinery and equipment), as well as manufacture of metal products had upward impact on the producer price changes. Price drop of manufacture of other transport equipment, as well as manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations had downward impact on the producer price changes.

In August 2021, compared to August 2020, the average level of producer prices in Latvian industry rose by 18.3 %. The level of prices of products sold on the domestic market grew by 15.9 %, and prices of exported products – by 20.4 %. Prices of products exported to euro area countries rose by 21.9 %, prices of products exported to non-euro area countries – by 19.2 %.
