Returning from a working visit to Sweden Wednesday evening, President of Latvia Egils Levits carried out a Covid-19 antigen rapid test which was positive, the President’s Chancellery said October 14.
The President is scheduled to carry out the PCR test Thursday.
It was planned that the President of Latvia would be meeting the new President of Estonia, Alar Karis, at Rīga Castle today. According to the President’s Chancellery, the Saeima Speaker Ināra Mūrniece will deputise and welcome the Estonian president at 9:30 instead, while Levits’ meeting with Karis will be postponed.
President Levits was among the first in Latvia to complete a course of Covid-19 vaccination, using his own vaccination process to encourage others to do likewise.
