Lithuania reintroduces indoor mask mandate as infection rates rise

In light of rising coronavirus infection rates, Lithuania has reintroduced its inside mask mandate. From Friday, even people with a valid health passport must wear a medical mask when inside public buildings.

The government in Vilnius upgraded its recommendation to wear a mask in public buildings with a legal requirement to do so starting on Friday.

It has also made a recommendation for both state and private companies to encourage employees to work from home whenever possible.

Lithuania’s coronavirus infection rate has increased significantly in recent weeks.

In the past 14 days, 700 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants have been recorded, despite some 68.3 per cent of the population being fully vaccinated against the virus or known to have recovered from it.
