Latvia’s leading universities have a clear vision for the future. It is topical for continued development of the country’s education and science sector.
This will require improving the National Development plan for 2021-2027 to assist Latvian universities in joining the top 500 of the world’s best universities, said vice-chairperson of Saeima’s Sustainable Development Committee Inese Ikstena during a visit to the new Science House of University of Latvia on Monday, 18 March.
During this trip, members of the committee met with representatives of the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University and Riga Stradins University, as reported by Saeima press-service.
«The recommendations included in National Development plan 2014-2020 in regards to higher education are good but allow for too wide interpretations. This is why the National Development Plan 2021-2027 includes specific and measurable goals. One of them is helping Latvian universities reach the world’s 500 best universities list,» Ikstena stressed.
