Latvian Health Minister against compulsory vaccination

Despite the fact that there have been talks about possible mandatory vaccination against Covid-19 in some professional sectors, the Minister for Health Daniels Pavļuts is against this approach.

“Compulsory vaccination – the direction is not correct,” the minister said.

The minister said that the incidence of Covid-19 in Latvia is decreasing, but we still have a relatively large number of cases at the European Union level. “We must not lose our precaution, and I call on everyone to get vaccinated,” the minister said.

Pavluts said that the main audience of the Ministry of Health which should be encouraged, are the hesitant and doubtful people.

In particular, three groups – seniors, teachers and medics – will be addressed in a campaign to inform and promote the need for vaccination, Pavļuts said.
