Latvian company AirDog purchased by US technology giant

A Latvian start-up company, unmanned aircraft manufacturer AirDog, has been purchased by one of the largest developers of smart home solutions in the US,, said the start-up representatives on May 15. develops advanced technology that help millions of people in 40 countries manage and protect their homes and businesses. With the acquisition of AirDog, the NASDAQ listed company intends to promote research and development of robotics for smart homes, business technology, and increase the company’s international growth, including in the Baltic States.

The amount of the transaction shall not be disclosed publicly.

“In today’s changing, fast-advancing era of information technology, robotics is an industry that requires a multi-faceted approach,” said Agris Ķipurs, co-founder and CEO of AirDog.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2014, AirDog presented itself as one of the world’s first producers of commercial drones operating the auto-tracking function. AirDog has won the award for Best Innovation at the world’s largest technology and innovation show “CES 2015” in Las Vegas, US.
