Businessman and philanthropist Ramūnas Karbauskis initiates a fund that, together with the country’s scientists, would take care of the production of drones needed for national defense and says that thanks to this fund, every citizen will be able to contribute to the strengthening of national defense.

“Aware of all the real threats to the democratic world and thinking about my personal contribution to the security of our state and people’s well-being, I am initiating the creation of the Charity and Support Fund “Drone Union”, the purpose of which is to finance scientific research, design, testing and production of Lithuanian drones that could become a significant part of Lithuania’s security concept, would become an important direction of our aid to Ukraine, would serve our industry, agriculture, communication and other needs in peacetime”, says R. Karbauskis.

According to him, Lithuanian universities, colleges, scientific institutes, business, private initiatives will be used, cooperation will be with the Lithuanian army, snipers, and border guards.

He personally and the business managed by Ramūnas Karbauskis undertakes to allocate one million euros to this fund in the next five years.

All private and legal persons who wish to become founders and shareholders of the fund will be invited, the board of the fund will be formed from academic society and business representatives, whose knowledge and experience in drone production could serve for productive work.

“I will strive for such “Drone Unions” to appear in other countries and grow into an international “Drone Alliance”. I am already working on this. I think that this is a very realistic and adequate response to threats to our security”, says R. Karbauskis.

He says that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has shown that those who have enough high-quality drones and the personnel to operate them win on the battlefield: “We need to take all possible experience of the Ukrainians in the use of drones and modernize them in such a way that any potential aggressor would not even think about should not encroach on the security of our country.”

According to R. Karbauskis, he initiates the project as a citizen for whom Lithuanian freedom and Lithuanians living safely and happily in their homeland are the greatest value.
