The weather in Latvia will gradually get warmer in the coming days, but nights will still be cold, according to forecasts.
On Saturday and Sunday, minimum temperatures will be -2 C to 3 C at night and up to 5 C at the coast, while in the afternoons it will be between 8 C and 13 C. Moderate, gusty northerly winds will persist. The weather will often be sunny, but brief precipitation is possible in places, mainly rain, with hail possible in some places.
The weather will turn warmer early next week. Minimum temperatures on Monday and early Tuesday morning will be 1 C to 6 C, with frosts still expected at grass altitudes, while afternoons will warm to 11 to 16 C, 8 C to 10 C in places along the coast. The weather will be sunny, without significant precipitation.
The first eight days of May in Latvia have had an average temperature of 6.6 C. This is 3.4 degrees below the climatic norm, but in many years the beginning of May has been even colder. The lowest temperature in the first eight days of May was in 1999, when the average temperature during this period was only 4.5 degrees; the beginning of 2023 was also very cold, when the average temperature in the country during the same period was 5.8 degrees.
