During the five-month mission, the instructors will teach Ukrainian soldiers the basic military knowledge and skills necessary for combat operations.

“I know and firmly believe that you will do your best to pass on your professionalism and knowledge to the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” said Lieutenant Colonel Marius Kugauda, commander of the training regiment, seeing off the Lithuanian soldiers.

The Lithuanian military has been participating in the UK-led multinational training operation for Ukrainian troops since November 2022.

Lithuanian instructors also contribute to the EU training mission EUMAM Ukraine and train Ukrainian military personnel in Lithuania, focusing on junior commanders and specialists.
