Government budget deficit in Latvia was 4.5% of GDP in 2020

Provisional results published April 21 by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that   in 2020 general government budget deficit accounted for EUR 1.3 billion or 4.5 % of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

General government consolidated gross debt amounted to EUR 12.7 billion or 43.5 % of the GDP.

Under the impact of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 general government revenues, compared to 2019, reduced by 0.4 % and comprised EUR 11.5 billion, but expenditure – increased by 9.5 % and reached EUR 12.7 billion, of which EUR 0.8 billion were expenditure on Covid-19 support measures for the national economy.
