Covid-19 case total rises by 178 on Friday in Latvia

On Friday, June 11, Latvia recorded 178 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 135,762.

Of 10,362 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 1.7% were positive, down on Thursday’s 1.9% rate.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants also continued to decline, from 175.7 Thursday to 166.4 Friday.

Sadly six more deaths were also confirmed as a result of Covid-19. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,449.

Meanwhile in  Estonia   54 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed June 10, while in  Lithuania there were 155 new cases.

Use of nose and mouth coverings is compulsory in all public places indoors, including workplaces. Physical distancing and frequent hand washing and sanitary cleaning habits are encouraged.

There is a Latvian language hotline  8989  which allows people to both register for vaccination and receive answers to questions about the process of vaccination.

All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website  covidpass.lv  .
