On Monday, June 7, Latvia recorded 76 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC). It is the first time the daily total has been in double digits since November 2020.
The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 134,888.
Of 2,894 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 2.6% were positive, up slightly on the 2.4% rate of Sunday and in line with recent figures which have been below the 3% mark.
Providing further encouragement, the 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants fell yet again from 204.3 Sunday to 201.2 Monday, edging ever-closer to the 200 threshold below which the Covid risk is officially classed as “high” rather than “very high”.
Even beter, no additional deaths were recorded during the last 24 hours, with the total death toll since the start of the pandemic remaining on 2,413.
Meanwhile in Estonia 37 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed June 7, while in Lithuania the figure was 84 new cases, the lowest daily total this year.
