On Friday, September 10, Latvia recorded 489 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center, almost the same figure as the 490 cases on Thursday.
Of the total number of positive cases, 395 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 94 were fully vaccinated.
The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 146,381.
Of 44,118 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 1.1 % were positive.
The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose again from 222.2 Thursday to 238.4 Friday, taking morbidity deeper into the ‘dark red’ or ‘very high’ risk classification, the highest of the four alert categories under the ‘traffic light’ system.
Unfortunately, four more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,602.
Meanwhile, in Estonia 540 new Covid cases were registered and in Lithuania 922 new cases were recorded.
