On Sunday, September 12, Latvia recorded 393 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).
Of the total number of positive cases, 314 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 79 were fully vaccinated.
The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 147,193.
Of 40,979 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 1 % were positive.
The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants rose again from 247.0 Saturday to 257.4 Sunday, taking morbidity deeper into the ‘dark red’ or ‘very high’ risk classification, the highest of the four alert categories under the ‘traffic light’ system.

Unfortunately, two more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed, of persons in the age range 70-89 years. The death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 2,609.
256 patients are currently being treated for Covid-19 symptoms in Latvian hospitals. Of that number, 22 are displaying serious symptoms.
Meanwhile, in Estonia 329 new Covid cases were registered and in Lithuania more than 1,000 new cases were recorded.
