In Rīga, Jelgava and Jūrmala together, 3,300 people got their Covid-19 jab on the first day of general population vaccination on a first come, first serve basis.
In all centers, queues had to be closed earlier than planned working hours because of the great interest. Conversely, not all doses were administered.
Slightly more than 2,000 doses out of 2,200 were vaccinated at Atta Centre in Riga, 640 out of 900 in Jelgava and 600 out of 600 in Jūrmala.
On Saturday, the centers in seven cities will open at 9:00 a.m. On the availability of vaccines and the length of the queue, the Ministry of Health promises to report on social networks.
